Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

What is your motivation to go to work? I love my job but also know I need to go to pay bills and support my own children. Some children just love school! I was one of those children. Other students, including my daughter and my classroom students, find school to be hard work and need additional motivation to stay focused each day and follow the expected rules and behaviors.

Many children need extra motivation and encouragement to do their best work and control their actions when feeling big emotions to continue the day with their goal behavior!

My job is to find what motivates them! Since I went straight to the kids to ask, there is no doubt! My students were given supervised access to Amazon to pick out their favorite items. I sorted these items into two projects. This project has the characters and items chosen as favorites that include superheroes, slow-rising squishies, key chains, fidgets and poppers, and squishy balls! The goal of this project is to add these reward items picked by each student to our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports reward store where the students exchange tokens or points to "buy" their favorite items once they meet their goal(s)! Once an item is bought by tokens or points, the item becomes the child's property and is sent home with the student.

My students have worked hard 2nd semester to meet their social-emotional and behavioral goals. As we near the end of the year, our reward store needs to be restocked with my students' preferred reinforcers so each child is motivated to continue to rock their goals as the school year continues and classwork gets harder!
