My Project

Covid-19 has greatly affected all students no matter their age or background. I work with second graders in a Title I school where students have been struggling with many skills, including social skills, they need for success. Students are coming into my classroom unable to regulate their feelings or needs. Many students do not know how to interact with other students. This is affecting the learning environment and their success in academics. The items for this project will help me meet the needs to help students be safe and learn at school.

Creating a learning environment where we celebrate each other's successes no matter how small they are as well will increase their academic skills and help students have the confidence they need for success.

In this kind of learning environment, students feel safe to express themselves and want to learn. Students will be able to use the I-pads with the Osmo-Little Genius Coding kits to build coding skills. Students who have coding skills show more success in all areas of learning. The document camera will help students access our curriculum by being able to see their teacher model for them as a whole group. Students can also use this camera to demonstrate their learning to their peers. The scanner will allow students the independence they need to successfully check out books from our classroom library. The wireless microphone will help students feel more confident in answering questions in front of their peers. The last few items for this project will help celebrate my students' successes as they reach their goals. Students will be able to choose a desk pet to display on their desk and take care of them. Your help will create the learning space they need for success despite Covid-19.
