My Project
As Chinese New Year is around the corner. My students are eager to experience the celebration as they have learned Chinese for a few years and have seen pictures and videos of the celebrations. The Play-Doh and bake wares will be used for making dumplings. They are going to practice using chopsticks as well. Bamboo brush pens and water writing mats will be used for calligraphy practice. I have already taught a lesson about Chinese New Year preparation and celebration. We have done something like write "福" and do some paper cutting. But this is not enough, when they saw the food in the picture, they want to learn make some dumplings and use chopsticks. As a teacher, I hope to satisfy my students' learning needs from my deep heart. 90% of my students are black and come from low-income families. This is a great opportunity for them to learn another language and culture in an early age. China is far away, but they still can experience the most important Chinese holiday in the classroom, they are going to remember this forever.
