My Students
Although the students in my school come from very diverse backgrounds both academically, and culturally, they all share the love of learning through reading, designing and creating using engineering and science.
Since many of our children are new English language learners we provide many visual cues and prompts to help encourage the strengthening of language in all that we do.
The students are extremely enthusiastic when given a task to explore science using different modalities. Each child has his or her own strengths and enjoys being able to work with one another bringing their special skillset to the group.
My Project
The students will have the opportunity to work in cooperative groups as they unpack their materials and form different structures such as bridges and houses. They will have guides to help them along as they form the different parts of each structure. They will be able to take part in using the design process where they will imagine, create, improve and share their ideas and results.
Their work in the classrooms helps to build children's critical thinking skills and encourages their curiosity in both the classroom and world outside.
Besides all the learning that goes on, it is really fun!
