My Project

My students come from diverse backgrounds, speak multiple languages, and bring a rich blend of cultures, experiences, and perspectives into our classroom. some are newly arrived immigrants, and all are navigating the world with bright eyes and big dreams. They are thoughtful, curious, and resilient—what they need are stories that reflect who they are and who they hope to become.

We recently received a beautiful new classroom bookshelf (thanks to amazing supporters like you!), and now we want to fill it with inclusive, culturally relevant, and diverse books that mirror our students' identities and broaden their understanding of others.

This project will help us build a classroom library filled with:

Books featuring BIPOC protagonists

Stories that reflect immigrant experiences

Books by and about LGBTQ+ individuals

Stories that tackle social-emotional growth, disabilities, and justice

High-interest titles that support both emerging and advanced readers

By creating a library that reflects all voices, we’re not just offering books—we’re building a sense of belonging.

Inclusive books do more than entertain. They help students feel seen, understood, and valued. They show our students that their stories matter and that reading can be a source of joy, empowerment, and identity.

With this collection, students will:

See themselves reflected in characters and storylines

Build empathy by reading about experiences different from their own

Grow in literacy, vocabulary, and comprehension with books that engage their interests

Develop a lifelong love of reading and learning

Representation matters. When a student sees a character who speaks their language, shares their culture, or overcomes a challenge they understand deeply, it makes an impact that lasts far beyond the classroom. Your support helps make that possible.
