My Students
I teach 2 groups of math students each day. Only a few of these students are fortunate to have homes that can provide the experiences necessary to help them excel in math and science. Others look to me to provide them the background knowledge and experiences they need to connect their learning to their everyday life.
Regardless, all kiddos come to school excited to learn and see what kind of experiences await them each day.
It's my honor to experience learning with them!
My Project
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We have a STEM club after school but due to lack of transportation most students can't attend. I would like to provide my students the opportunity to explore a variety of new and challenging materials, while using them to create things that can have real life applications.
STEM projects can allow students to see their potential through meaningful learning.
Many students are not being challenged to be creative and to be problem solvers. I want them to see that a mistake or even a failure(like when their bridge falls) is a chance to challenge themselves, rethink, redesign and try again. I believe that STEM materials will be an excellent path to help students think outside the box.
The STEM building kits would give students an option to learn through hands on experimentation. They will draw, plan and write about their project. They will document their failures and successes in math and science journals!
