Let's Bring Back the Arts!

My students need rhythm instruments that will be integrative as we transition to a Fine Arts Academy Magnet School next year. Anything helps at this point and we want to infuse music and art into all subjects!

My Students

I teach at a Title I school, where 95% have free/reduced-price lunch. We provide free breakfast and uniforms for students that cannot afford them. Part of this is washing and drying uniforms that have been donated or reused when students need to borrow a uniform. We go by, "Dress for Success" and having a mindset of learning while feeling good! Students come to this neighborhood school lacking the essential materials to be successful so many teachers buy even the bare essentials with their own money.

My Project

Currently, we are not a Fine Arts Magnet School, but we are transforming into one next year. We need musical instruments that students can access in the general education classrooms. We want the arts to be infused into all classes throughout the day in all grade levels. We have some donated instruments, but not enough for every child.

There aren't enough instruments to go around to all students, so it's time to start gathering all the items we can to share as much art and music with every student that enters the building!

We know we can be a World Class Fine Arts Magnet over time, so now is the time to get started on building that school!
