My Project

There are times when a student works really hard on a large, complex 3D design. The print time is 24 hours. I let them run it overnight because I believe in letting students try stuff. Sometimes it works. Sometimes I come into a rat's nest of filament and a print that is destroyed.

I want to be able to meet the needs of those designers that are shooting for the moon.

The ones that want to print an entire helmet they designed based on the ones worn by the Orcs from Lord of the Rings. And I want the quality of that print to reflect the work the student put in. And of course, I would like the print to be finished before I leave school for the evening.

The Creality K1 Max Pro offers all of this. It's received very high ratings and reviews and has a print speed of 600mms which is about 4 times faster than we are currently printing. There are no streaks or wobbly layers, and the printer uses a form of AI to detect when a print has failed and stops automatically, rather than printing the proverbial rat's nest. The software the K1 Max uses is the same as the software we are using with our smaller Creality printers, so there will be a small learning curve.

This one is a big ask, but I've been told "You only miss the shots you don't take." So I'm taking this one. Thank you.
