My Students
The children in my classroom come from all walks of life. Their families not only come from various places in the United States but also have immigrated from around the globe, including the Philippines, Mexico, and the Middle East. They reside in a lower socioeconomic area and don't always have access to the latest and greatest school supplies and technology. We are a Title I school, and our families can't offer our students the funding that the more affluent schools in our district can offer. Although they are all third graders, each of my students' learning styles is unique, and several of my students have been diagnosed with learning disabilities. I am constantly striving to satisfy those individual needs and create an inclusive environment. My students are amazing and eager to experience all that I can bring into our classroom.
My Project
The amazing 3rd grade students at El Monte need playground balls to participate in some fun and engaging activities that incorporate physical education with math and music. A combination of music, bouncing balls, and movement equals math is fun! The students will learn to bounce the balls to a variety of musical selections while learning math skills with an emphasis on fractions. Its incredible to see students enjoying themselves while engaged in a physical activity and learning fractions at the same time. Combining physical education, music appreciation, and math, what more could a student want? Please help our students get enthusiastic about and gain confidence in their 3rd grade math skills.
