My students are members of a small farming community where they are taking part in the first year of a brand new charter school. These kids are enrolled in a rigorous program with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy. They enter the classroom daily ready to learn and take on any and all new challenges that may present themselves.
They are amazing kids who work very hard.
In addition to literacy and numeracy, my students love to learn about history and science.
They deserve the best that I can provide.
My Project
My students love math and they love being referred to as mathematicians. I love it when I tell them that it is time for us to move on and the don't want to because they want to continue to work on their math. I want to encourage that love for numbers, shapes, time, and money.
Manipulatives will help my students explore numeracy with a hands-on approach.
This will help my students to be able to take an abstract problem such as 4 + 3 = 7 and make it tangible. Help my students to experience math in a way that will lay the foundation of excitement, love, and the need to learn more.
