This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all amazing! I teach students with special needs. Many are on the autism spectrum, but some of other disabilities as well. We work hard at learning academic skills such as reading, writing, and math. We also work at learning social skills, such as peer interaction, turn taking, and cooperation. We learn life skills, like brushing our teeth, learning how to use money, and basic cleaning skills like sweeping and cleaning tables. Some of my students are nonverbal and are learning alternate forms of communication. Some are English Language learners, and are learning language as well as all the other skills they are taught throughout the day.

My Project

The materials I am requesting for my students are going to be used to help maintain their health and their happiness! School attendance is a crucial part of my students education, and they cannot be in school if they are getting sick. I am requesting some supplies to help keep the germs out of the classroom! They need hand soap to use at the sink in the classroom. We also would like disinfecting wipes so that we can clean the tables daily to keep those germs from trying to stick around.

Busy hands help keep my students calm!

My students have disabilities including autism, and enjoy being able to play with fidget toys throughout the day. I am requesting these toys to help reinforce appropriate behaviors. When they are finished with an activity they are allowed a few moments to play with a sensory integration toy before beginning the next task. This gives the mind and body a break and helps my students maintain great behavior and try their hardest in school.
