Let's Be Gamers - Math Board Games Are Fun!

Help me give my students math board games to enhance their math abilities while having fun.

My Project

After 31 years of teaching, I am so excited to begin a new position as math interventionist on my campus next year. I will be serving grades, kindergarten through second. I will work with the students who are struggling with basic math concepts. Students having the lowest test scores, along with a teacher recommendation, are referred to me for math tutoring in small groups.

I have a two-part goal of providing board games that enrich mathematical concepts for the kindergarten, first and second grade students in my small groups along with the second-grade students on our campus who wish to participate.

(If successful, I will work to provide games for kindergarten and first grade, as well.) I will use some of these games in my classroom. With parent permission, I will also check out "Math packs" for students to take home for one week at a time.

When children play, they are developing many skills needed for success in school. When children play board games, they are developing different mathematical concepts. My hope is to provide a bonding experience for families while significantly enhancing mathematical abilities in these young learners. I would appreciate any help you can give to make this project become a reality for my young mathematicians!
