Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a preschool special education class located in Los Angeles, California, that serves preschool to sixth grade students. The school is located in a very low-income neighborhood, and 100% of the students receive free lunch. The school is surrounded by homeless, traffic, and the freeway. The majority of the students in the school are Hispanic, and we have several newcomers at our school who do not speak English. We also have a very high population of special education students. As a school, our goal is to prepare students who are college bound.

My students are six preschool special education students; three of them have autism and three have speech and language impairment, but they come in every day with smiles on their faces and eager to learn.

My goal as a teacher is to prepare my students for the future and encourage them to love school, now and forever.

My Project

It’s time to for us to learn and play. Our toys are worn out and broken. We need to replace our old toys and dramatic clothes. Our dolls are missing heads and arms. When we play with them they fall apart. We need new ones so we can continue to socialize and Build our social skills. In preschool it is very important for children to play, play, play. These children learn through play and exploration.with our new toys the children will t have to worry about putting tape on them to put them back together.
