I teach at a wonderful middle school that has been recognized four times as a "school to watch." This is very remarkable since we live in a high-poverty area, and many of our students have difficulty finding support for musical enrichment outside of our classroom.
My students thrive in a student-centered learning environment where they can discover and learn by using our classroom tools and technology.
We have very little room in our classroom budget for anything but basic music needs and instrument repairs.
My Project
No one sits on the bench in band class. We want as many students playing as possible! This year we added 5th grade to our middle school. This means that we have even more students playing instruments and making music!
We need some basic music supplies in order to give our new students all of the tools that they need to be successful music makers!
By having valve oil, clarinet and saxophone reeds, slide cream, and mouthpiece disinfectant we can ensure that all of our students are working with functioning instruments. It is always our goal to provide all of the tools to create life-long music lovers and makers!
