Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend an inner-city elementary school, in a low, socioeconomic community. Many are from single-parent homes, live in multi-family homes, live in subsidized housing, qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch and have other obstacles that they face on a daily basis.
Despite these obstacles, the one constant is that they all come to school ready and eager to learn.
My students are at a point in their life where they are learning how to be responsible, respectful and safe, by keeping themselves and our classroom organized.
My Project
Being creative is the key to unlocking student engagement and success. With the butcher paper and paint, my students will be able to work collaboratively on the mural to show our school in our hallway and Open House. Being a part of a team helps students understand the importance of collaboration and working together. Through Arts integration, students are able to have tangible experiences to expand their learning and creativity.
Imagine a world without creativity - it's just plain boring!
With these materials, my students will be able to be creative by painting, stamping, and sticking stickers on our special projects and during Art time.
