My students need drums for a world drumming ensemble.

My Students
If everyone marches to the beat of a different drummer, why not march to your own beat?!
I teach K-6 Music in an urban public school in Indiana.
My school is in a very low economic area, and students receive very little parental support at home.
These students are in grave need of positive associations with adults, with school, and with learning.
The music room at my school came well stocked, however, there were only 5 drums available for use. Recently, I have received funding from grants and DonorsChoose to purchase additional drums, however, in a classroom of 35 students, 10 is still not enough. Using these, we have already tried running drum circles and world drumming lessons, which are designed to build community and encourage cooperative learning. These activities also serve as a fun and active way to get students involved in school, rather than in unsavory outside activities. Students have shown a great interest in all drum circle and world drumming activities that have been presented, but with only 10 standing drums in the room, most of the activity time is spent on resolving arguments on who gets to play what, not what we're all going to do together.
My Project
The resources requested include two tunable tubano drums, requested for their usability (and ability to be fixed), as well as their easy playability. These drums will allow my students to easily play standing, sitting, or kneeling, and will definitely improve the overall quality of our ensemble.
The programs that I'm seeking to run at this school will promote community, cooperation and caring, as well as inspire confidence in students who need all the positive feedback they can get.
Your funding will help make this a reality - you will make it possible for these students to participate actively in these activities that will help them have a positive outlook in the classroom, and on learning in general.
