This year I have 17, eager to learn, fourth graders! My fourth graders love to explore and dive into new subjects and information. They use multiple resources around the room to enhance their learning. They teach me just as much as I teach them, if not more!
Teaching first grade was all about teaching students to learn to read, this year in fourth grade I cannot wait to help them read to learn!
I can't wait to watch them use their resources for learning. Watching them explore and totally invest themselves in what they are interested in is one of the best things.
Students thrive off of positive feedback. Having the choice of work space with flexible seating gives them the opportunity to be responsible for their own work space and learning environment. They love to move around, making the workshop model of learning very beneficial to them. My goal is to have my students enter the classroom loving to learn, and leave wanting to learn more!
My students need more reference books for writing. The books I have asked for work directly with a writing curriculum I am currently using with my students. These books will show my students the different styles of narrative, informational, and opinion writing.
Having resources readily available for students creates a successful environment.
Students can use these books to reference information and styles to use in their own writing. Many students struggle with finding ideas to write about. These books will help provide them with ideas.
I also asked for two floor desks. I currently have two in my classroom and my students go crazy over them.
