Let Your Light So Shine... Colorimeters for Enzymatic Activity

Help me give my students the scientific equipment to run a lab that they would find in an actual Biological Laboratory and the workplace!!

My Students

My students are dedicated and curious students who love to learn how to investigate the world around them! Struggling to work with Covid-19, but still wanting the lab experience of a high school science classroom, these students are great!

Using modern technology to help students who merge from in-person and online on a day-to-day basis, these upgrades to my classroom help the students transition flawlessly from one circumstance to the next.

My Project

As I teach more and more in the STEM fields, I find that one of our main deficits for sending students to a STEM workplace is that they simply do not have enough exposure to realistic higher-level labs in grades 7-12. Without these labs, students simply do not know what they are missing out on in terms of fun and exciting workplaces with advanced tech! In its place, we provide simulations that simply do not have the same impact that hands-on science can provide.

By giving students wider access to actual laboratories found in the workplace, I hope to excite the students for the rewarding professions found in STEM, specifically in the Biological areas.

Colorimeters can be used for a variety of experiments ranging from Enzymatic Activity to Photosynthesis, and Respiration to Solution Concentrations.

I hope that this wider array of labs that we are beginning to provide will inspire students to consider high-paying STEM fields, which in turn can benefit the community in which my students reside. It all comes full circle, and I thank you for considering my project.
