My Students

There are so many thing I love about my students. I truly enjoy the joy on their faces when they discover and understand something new. When they tell me their stories of their families and friends, it brings what's unique to them to create our classroom community. I especially love to see the growth they accomplish from the beginning of the year to the end of the year in first grade.

First grade can be a difficult transition year, but at the same time it can be a year of exploration and fun.

We celebrate our learning and set attainable goals that both the student, parents, and I feel they can reach. This period of childhood is the time each student begins to learn skills needed to become a self-sufficient person. Each child has his or her own personality that influences each step of their learning and development. With such a wide range of diverse needs, my goal is to help facilitate every type of learner in my classroom and continue to help them improve with technology and learning through play and discovery.

My Project

The arts are as important as academics, and they should be treated that way in school curriculum. The materials for this project will help my first graders produce visual art to be integrated with all subjects. It will also help complete our listening and technology station.

For all grades, art can enhance a child's motivation, connection, and ability to learn.

For my first graders, any time art is incorporated in our daily lessons to them it is considered the best day ever. For me, it's a way to keep my young learners engaged and keep age appropriate activities with rigorous curriculum expectations.

The materials requested will allow us to celebrate authors like Dr. Seuss and create visual art for our daily science. From creating paintings, listening to books, using multiple mediums to produce a personalized piece of art these materials will help create an amazing impact in my classroom.
