Let Your Creativity Run Wild (1 out of 2)

Help me give my students writing boards to practice letter, number, and word formation. Please also help me bring Magnatiles into my classroom to help with spatial awareness, as well as miscellaneous items that foster creativity.

My Students

Whether my students are learning from home or learning in the classroom, I want them to know that I am here to support their education and their social and emotional well-being. Whether my students come to my virtual classroom or my real classroom, they show up eager to learn. My students are learning how to recognize letters and numbers, count with 1-to-1 correspondence, connect numbers with quantities, etc. Although this year has thrown them a curve-ball with distance learning due to the pandemic, they show up to the virtual classroom every day and are eager to head to the classroom to continue their learning.

The demographics of my school consists of 94% of students that come from low-income families, 56% English Language Learners, 21% of students have a disability, and 3% of the students are homeless.

Unfortunately, meeting the needs of all my students is extremely challenging without the necessary resources. It is difficult to meet so many needs when my students face external obstacles every day that will prevent them from having some of the same opportunities as other students their age that come from more affluent backgrounds.

My Project

My students have never been to school before and they will need hands-on materials to help with fine motor skills. Having writing boards and Magnatiles help them practice using their fingers and hands to grasp the items while they write and build.

The Magnatile sets will be used with our Creative Curriculum Studies to correlate with the different studies the students will be exploring.

The butterfly puzzle will be used with our Insects Study. It promotes fine motor practice while students use the wand to move the magnets on the puzzle.
