My students need tool storage supplies to allow them to work on engineering and robotics projects.

My Students
My students study physics and engineering. We also have a large focus on robotics as a way to apply STEM principles in an engaging way. As we expand our program, there is a need to expand our inventory of parts to keep up with this demand.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and are all bright and capable of great things.
Recently, there has been a sharp upturn in students who cannot afford to bring the necessary materials and need our help. They study physics and engineering and need access to the expanded support technology that we can provide. They compete in regional events in engineering design and physics and cannot do so without these tools. My students are dedicated and spend countless hours before and after school as well as at lunch working on their projects. As they work on more advanced projects, we need to be able to have access to the parts that we do have.
My Project
Every year, students compete in the VEX robotics championships, and my students would love the chance to join them. We already have the basic parts and have used them to create everything from line-following and maze-solving robots to working scale model elevators. These competition items allow a greater number of students to begin competing. These students are using robotics as a method to learn more about science and math. The students will learn how to do basic computer programming and a good deal of design and structure. Students will also use simple machines and other basic physics concepts to achieve their goals. With robotics, students are able to learn more advanced programming and building techniques. To keep the robotic parts organized and available for all the students, we need to add a storage system and a toolbox to our classroom.
This request will allow my students to have the materials necessary to compete with schools that have many more resources and tools available to them.
We have worked very hard to work with other grants to get the parts, but now we need a way to keep them accessible. Very few things are as exciting for a teacher as when the students see their projects start to work for the first time. These students have the chance to grow and learn with these wonderful projects. Just give them the chance.
