Help me give my students the opportunity to print in color in the classroom. The children enjoy taking pictures of their work and themselves with their work. They enjoy taking these pictures home.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a preschool special education class located in Los Angeles, California, that serves preschool to sixth grade students. The school is located in a very low-income neighborhood, and 100% of the students receive free lunch. The school is surrounded by homeless, traffic, and the freeway. The majority of the students in the school are Hispanic, and we have several newcomers at our school who do not speak English. We also have a very high population of special education students. As a school, our goal is to prepare students who are college bound.
My students are six preschool special education students; three of them have autism and three have speech and language impairment, but they come in every day with smiles on their faces and eager to learn.
My goal as a teacher is to prepare my students for the future and encourage them to love school, now and forever.
My Project
My students must keep uw with the latest advancement in education to spark an interest in their learning. These children are hands on learners and they enjoy taking pictures of their work and themselves with their work. They print the pictures and then take the pictures home to show their families they also love going to the school office and showing the staff there, their work. My students are also non-verbal and I must constantly be printing pictures to help them communicate their wants and needs, so I would like to have ink ready in the classroom for all of their needs and wants.
Students with autism and special needs are visual learners and need lots of pictures to learn academically and learn how to express themselves.
