Help me give my students the outdoor recess they deserve! In my project is supplies and equipment to help them exert energy. There are balls, jump ropes, hula hoops, a basketball hoop, bubbles and chalk. Let's do this!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my school are amazing. They work really hard on their academics and are very grateful for the things they have. My school encourages students to take charge of their own learning and provides learning experiences that are personalized to the needs of each student. The teachers and staff that I work with are among some of the most dedicated people I have ever met. They truly love their students and push them to meet high expectations.
We have a very diverse student population, and many of our students and families come from low income backgrounds.
Our students are dedicated to their education, and they understand how important a quality education is for their future. Each and every student at our school works very hard to achieve their academic goals.
My Project
The students at my school will be using these resources during their outdoor recess time. These resources will allow our students to be involved in more active play during their 30 minute recess time. Students will be able to play organized football, soccer, and basketball, along with some more independent play like jump roping, hula hoops, chalk and bubbles. They will learn to play together, and share. They will also learn the importance of playing hard for thirty minutes and the effects it can have on their health and their focus in the classroom. A lot of the students at my school say that there just aren't enough things to play with during recess. My goal is for every student to have something they can use during recess!
Recess equipment and resources will drastically change the amount of play the students at my school have.
Many of my students do not have opportunities to play outside other than when they are in school. Students will have improved focus because they will be able to burn more energy at recess. The students at my school will also be happier. When I asked my students what they wished they could change about recess there was an overwhelming response for a playground or equipment to play with.
