Let There Be Light!

Help me give my students a place to “light up” their math and language station exploration by adding a light table. Adding light sparks interest, creating active engagement in the tasks which increases learning.

My Project

Students love to explore the difference between opaque and translucent materials in science and read or search for words they know with flashlights. These explorations with light create an added interest in the activities.

I want to further use light to increase the engagement of my students in their learning tasks at our Math and Reading stations.

Students work at independent stations daily and adding a light table with manipulatives to these stations will add variety. Variety keeps students interested. I want to place a variety of stations in the classroom that allow my students to actively play and create as they build their skills in Reading and Math. Students will use the light table as they segment, blend and build words. They will sort, fill tens frames and create patterns at other times of the day. Help “let there be light” in our classroom!
