Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students look forward to coming to school and finding a good learning place. The students come from a diverse background and attend a school that is 100% free lunch. My class make-up is 50% African American , 48% Hispanic and 2% Caucasian. Many students move from school to school in the same school year. In my classroom, I have many students who have learning needs and behavioral needs.
The school is need of many supplies.
The computers are old and are in constant need of repairs. In my class, there are 25 students, but the class has access to only 15 computers. On a good day, all fifteen computers are working.
My Project
The equipment needed will assist with my modeling part of a lesson. The students can mirror me during a written lesson or homework review. The document camera and projector allows me to use websites for viewing. My English learners need many visuals. Using these two items alone, I am able to go to the website and upload the pictures. With the document camera, we are able to save paper. After placing it under the document camera, students come up and answer the questions on the board.
The school laminator stays broken.
As for this school year, it has not worked. So two years ago, I bought a small personal one. However, these sheets have been costly and are small. Even when I use the card stock, some students are hard on the information card. Therefore, I need to laminate my items because the paper items do not last long. I can save paper and reuse the items for years to come.
