In my classroom, I have the following students: 8 Hispanics, 2 Caucasian, 11 African American students and 1 Arab student in my third grade class. My Hispanic students vary in understanding the English language. Many of the students are from single parent homes and depend on the government system for housing and food. The school is old and it has an open school concept model. The classrooms have no door and the wall partitions do not go completely all the way up ceiling. Therefore, we hear everything going on in the surrounding areas. Second grade classrooms are the only ones with a door. At this time the P.E. teacher was given a small classroom to have P.E. on rainy days. Beforehand, the teacher had to provide instruction in the hallway. The school provides free breakfast, lunch and a snack daily. The school system can not provide support for projects. My students enjoy coming to school.
