Let There Be Light (and Learning) In Kindergarten!

Help me give my students a light table to enhance our classroom learning experiences. This tool will foster creativity and exploration among our students, providing them with a unique way to engage with various concepts.

My Project

I teach an energetic and curious group of kindergarteners who are just beginning their educational journey. Many of my students come from low-income households and face challenges that can make school feel overwhelming. Despite this, they walk into our classroom every day with bright smiles and eager minds, ready to explore, discover, and grow.

Our classroom is a safe haven—a space where students can feel empowered, encouraged, and celebrated.

They thrive with hands-on learning opportunities that make abstract concepts come alive in meaningful ways.

A light table would be a transformative tool in our classroom, offering a magical, engaging way for students to explore academic concepts through play. With this resource, students will be able to:

Build letters and words using transparent alphabet tiles, enhancing phonics and early reading skills.

Explore numbers and counting with translucent number manipulatives, pattern blocks, and ten frames.

Discover science concepts like shadows, color mixing, and transparency through guided exploration.

Strengthen fine motor skills by tracing letters and shapes on tracing paper or manipulating small translucent items.

Fuel their creativity through open-ended art and building activities.

A light table encourages sensory play, which is crucial for young learners. It supports visual learners and students who benefit from tactile experiences, making learning more accessible for all children, including those with diverse needs.
