Kindergarten is such a fun and busy place! We have 20 children in our class, 11 boys and 9 girls. 25% of my students receive free and reduced lunches. I have children in my class from single parent homes, two parent homes, and those that are being raised by their grandparents. All of my children are English speaking, however, two of my children live in Spanish speaking homes and are bilingual. We live in a rural area on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We are not too far from our state capital, Annapolis. The school I work in is a PreK - 2nd grade school. We have approximately 550 students that enter our doors every day. Each one of them brings with them different personal stories and needs. We have a very dedicated staff that works together to ensure the success of all of our students.
My students are curious and ready to learn!
Five and six year old children are amazing. Their ability to learn, love, and adapt is wonderful. They genuinely love coming to school and love others no matter what. We work as one big happy family, celebrating our successes, as well as working through our defeats.
My Project
A new classroom printer and ink will be helpful in so many ways. We would be able to print daily learning materials, notes from home, portfolio photos, children's masterpieces, and so much more! As children work on assignments and projects in the classroom, at times there is a need for a new paper to be printed. It could be because they want to start over or they need their work modified. Whatever the reason, having a printer right there in the classroom will make this so much easier and instantaneous.
Imagine the smiles on the children's faces when they are able to print a photo they took themselves or something they created all on their own!
As a kindergarten teacher, I enjoy making center materials for my children to interact with and learn from. A new printer, ink, and paper would help me to print out these activities in beautiful color that will have the children wanting to learn all day long!
