Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Being understood is important for language learners when communicating in the target language. A device that records evolving language proficiency helps my students monitor their progress and ultimately helps them gain better command of standard Mandarin.
My students are first graders at a school that provides a Mandarin Dual Immersion program.
98% of our students come from an economically challenged community. They are learning a critical world language that will better position them in the 21st century work force.
My Project
My students need the technology to assist them in reflecting on their learning and acquiring the target language. With an iPod Touch, they can record their utterances in any communicative tasks in order to enhance their language production. The more productive they are, the better they will feel for themselves as language learners.
Languages are tools to access the world.
Being linguistically competitive enables my students to have more access as the world becomes increasingly globalized. Hence, they need to become proficient language users. An iPod Touch with a protective case will be used as a tutorial aid to fine tune their learning of Mandarin. Please support my students in speaking to the world in Mandarin effectively.
