This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, I work with students who are faced with several challenges both in the classroom and at home. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?
My STEAM scholars walk into my classroom every day full of life and ready to learn! They want to be in school because they know that education is what it takes to be successful.
These past few years have been especially hard for our students. They have lived through COVID closures and virtual learning. They have not been able to participate in hands-on STEAM activities for some time and the engineering challenge kits will help them design, create, problem solve, and most importantly, LEARN!
