This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are between the ages of 4 and 5 years of age. They are just starting their school experience and they all have a great love of learning.
This age group requires small group instruction, creative play, visuals, and manipulatives.
Many of these students come to school without the basic foundational skills needed to succeed. Not only academically but social and emotional as well.
Every student learns through different modalities and it is important to provide a rich environment that is a component of the curriculum.
My Project
This Color Printer will make a big difference in my classroom because my students will have access to color activities and games to reinforce math and reading skills. I will be able to print many resources from the Teachers Pay Teachers website. For math, the "Counting Bear Pattern Cards" will be used to reinforce AB, ABB, AABB, and ABC patterns. The "Connecting Links Pattern Cards" are great for practicing patterns and building fine motor skills in little fingers.
These cards will be used to reinforce skills, for independent work, partner work, and for center activity.
For reading, the "Word Building Cards" have 3 letter word puzzles with varying difficulty. Most of the words in this introductory pack are simple to sound out, with a few challenge words for higher level students. The "Geoboards Alphabet Task Cards" with upper and lowercase letters are great for prewriting practice of letter formation and fine motor strengthening. I will laminate all the activities and games I print for durability.
