My Students
My students are awesome! I teach at a Philadelphia Public School that qualifies for Title I funding. My entire class qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students live in a single parent household and some of them are being cared for by a foster family or extended family members.
Despite the challenges my students face, they come each day with a great attitude.
Many of them have faced hardships that you would never want any child to ever experience. I provide a safe, nurturing environment where kids can learn and progress.
My Project
My students are in need of materials to organize our literacy stations. Every day we have small groups that complete reading, writing, and word work; however, often times materials are hard to find, misplaced, or not readily available when they need them. The time we spend looking for "stuff" would be better spent on productive work.
I need help organizing literacy supplies so we spend less time looking for reading and writing materials into actual "ready to work time".
With bins to store materials and a cart for supplies, we would be ready to begin right away. No delays or interruptions to lessons for materials that they need but can not find. The dice, chips, and dry erase pockets would allow me to make some fun reusable word work games that would keep kids engaged. Every child deserves the best we can offer.
