Do you remember what it was like to be so enthralled with a book that you couldn't put it down? My students LOVE the Magic Tree House books but we have a very limited number of them.
My students live in rural Alaska.
The village consists of about 600 people and we are very isolated. Our only library for the village is the school library. Unfortunately, there are not many new books in our school library. The students love reading but have a hard time finding high interest books.
My Project
The books will provide an escape for my students to find and explore new worlds. Worlds that can only be found within the pages of good books! The Magic Tree House books are very interesting with great material that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. Each book explores a new world, time, or place. This allows my students to learn new things with each book that they read. My students would be so excited to see new books added to our class library!
I have always loved to read.
It makes me sad to see that the students do not have the same access to reading material that I had growing up in a big city. I want to allow my students to explore books that will help to develop a lifelong love of reading and the only way to do that is to bring in new books for them to read.
