My students need various game boards to enhance all work turned in days and to also allow some time for appropriate social interactions and problem solving.
With all the technology that is available to youth these days, I feel like the art of playing board games is going away. Students would benefit from that opportunity to sit down and play some of the same popular board games we did growing up.
I teach 115 middle school students that are in the middle school.
All students I see are in the 7th grade. So much of their interaction is via computer and other technologies. I feel students need some time to develop face to face social skills. I think playing board games is a great way to accomplish this. In addition, there are many problem solving skills that are also necessary for kids to successfully participate in games.
My Project
By giving students the chance to sit down and interact via board games you can improve their ability to communicate, problem solve, and interact on a different level. I also feel that Yahtzee, Guess Who?, and a board games kit would enhance my student's life skills that they will need to be successful adults in the future.
Think back to your childhood.
I imagine playing board games was a huge part of it. I want to give this current generation an opportunity to experience this same joy I had as a child. Think of all the skills you learned competing against someone else in a game. What a great skill and fun activity to pass on to the next generation.
