Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I would like to give my students an opportunity to learn how to play classic board games, gain social skills and learn to be competitive in a safe and welcoming environment.

Playing board games can help students meet new people, engage in teamwork, increase brain function and apply problem-solving skills.

Playing board games will teach my students how to set goals and be patient while also teaching them how to follow instructions. Board games will also help create healthy competition and build communication skills. and most importantly teach my students that it is ok to fail.

The games on my list were chosen by my students, and I can't wait to watch them play. Students will use them during their lunch and WIN periods, when there is downtime, and after testing.

As a teacher in a low-income school district, I want to provide all I can for my students to have the most memorable educational experience. The students in my school come from very diverse backgrounds. We have over 1000 students in our school. Over 80% of them are receiving free or reduced-price lunches daily. Over one-half of the student body is Latino, and we have an extremely large ESL population.

These games will provide an opportunity for my students to have quality, screen-free time with friends.
