The Wonder Lab, as we have named it, is a place for all students, Kindergarten through fifth grade, to explore, investigate, create, and wonder! Twice a month, new projects are presented to students in all STEAM areas-—Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. There are usually 10 different projects for students to choose from every time they walk in the Wonder Lab. Whether it is examining fossils, learning to make Stop Motion videos, designing and building houses from cardboard boxes, creating Chihuly inspired art, or measuring the distance their popsicle stick sleds will go, there is something for everyone.
Students love coming to the Wonder Lab!
Our school has a population of over 600 Kindergarten to fifth-grade students. We are a growing rural community with almost 50% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunches.
My Project
I want my students to keep reading and learning this summer. The book, Lawn Boy, will be a great read for them. Students will also be able to come to our library during the summer and be engaged in fun activities with their families. We will have Monopoly games out for families to play together. STEM activities will also be set up, like light circuits in science and designing their own game piece in Art.
Engaging, hands-on activities will give my students a summer of learning and fun!
They will look forward to our time together each week, and I will look forward to watching them grow. Let the Games Begin!
