My students need a microphone so we can hear them when they come up to the board. They also need a netbook to keep the motivated to learn through Smart and Mimio.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Racking my brain trying to think of fun motivating activities to do with my SLD students is what I do daily. The key is involvement, so I need a netbook to use with the smart or mimio. They can use their hands or the stylus to move items around and this will keep them wanting to learn.
My students are children with specific learning disorders.
They are in a regular education classroom and I go in the different classrooms to work with them and any other student that is having a difficult time learning. We are a Title I school, which means about 93% of the student population is on free lunch. I work with first, second, third, and fourth graders. I really love working with them and I try daily to think of something motivational to do.
These students are so sweet and your heart just goes out to them. Some of them I have been working with for three years. To see the growth that they have made just brings a smile to my face. I want to use more technology in the rooms. Since technology is the big thing these days many of the activities I do gets the students so excited and involved. The netbook would be easy for me to transport from room to room, too. My students don't speak loud so with the wireless microphone it will be easier to hear them.
My Project
I would be using the netbook with the mimio and the smart. Students will be able to move items with their hands or the stylus. I have taken many trainings using both the smart and mimio and with all the different ways to teach a lesson, the children can't help but be motivated. We can pop balloons to see the answers, and have the computer just all of a sudden talk to me and I would answer.
The netbook can go with me to my other classes, which some of them have children with autism. They really are smart when it comes to computers. I have been using my personal laptop to take to school, but it is too big and bulky to carry around. The reason I want the microphone is the students do not talk very loud and with a wireless microphone we would be able to hear them, plus using a microphone is them pretending to be on stage. It brings them to life. By getting a netbook and microphone, my students would be able to learn by touching.
With this donation, you would be helping students to learn at a faster pace than just paper and pencil.
They will be involved and motivated. When I come in the room sometimes and the teacher is just lecturing, my students are not focused on what is being taught. As soon as I bring out my laptop, their heads pop up and it like, "I wonder what different activity are we doing today". They are ready to learn. The microphone is for the students to speak into when they are up front.
