it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our Title I school, our students are discovering the power of music through the rich traditions of mariachi. These young musicians are not only learning to play their instruments—they’re embracing a cultural legacy that connects them with their heritage and community. However, many of our students face economic barriers that make it difficult to care for and transport their instruments. With your support, we hope to provide durable, protective guitar cases that will allow students to safely take their instruments home for practice and study.
Having guitar cases will significantly enhance our students’ musical growth by increasing access to consistent practice outside of school hours.
It empowers them to take ownership of their learning, fosters discipline, and boosts confidence. For many, this is their first opportunity to play an instrument or engage in structured music education. The ability to practice at home will accelerate their skills and support performance readiness in class and community events.
This project also contributes to broader goals: encouraging cultural pride, supporting academic achievement through music engagement, and developing lifelong habits of responsibility and creativity. Your investment will ensure our mariachi students—resilient, talented, and full of promise—have the tools they need to thrive in and beyond the classroom.
