My Students

I teach 2nd grade at a dual immersion school. I teach language arts in English. They switch classes in the middle of the day and receive half of their instruction in Spanish from my partner.

My second grade students come from many different social and economic backgrounds.

They all have different learning abilities and learning styles, too. As I have taught in this Utah neighborhood, I have seen many changes over the past several years.

Technology and the way kids learn have drastically changed. I am constantly looking for ways to motivate each student to learn while, at the same time, trying to make learning fun. More than anything, I want my students to enjoy school, feel safe, and know that I love them.

My Project

Learning to speak the language and having others hear and understand it is vital in the learning process.

When my students can hear each other clearly, they are more likely to listen and participate and gain comprehension and confidence.

My students need these cordless microphones so they can hear each other read, present individual and group projects, perform reader's theaters and puppet shows both in Spanish and English. Many of my students don't have the listening skills to comprehend in an effective manner and most of my students have a hard time projecting their voices so they can be heard.

With your support, these microphones will help them be able to be heard clearly so that they can learn to grow essential listening skills, which will keep them engaged and interested.
