Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a very ecstatic bunch. They are always eager to learn new things and enjoy looking for fun ways to learn. Coming from low income households, each and every students leaves their home struggles behind to focus on their education.
They are determined and full of drive which makes every day exciting.
They come to school ready and full of energy which motivates me as a teacher to be the best I can be for them. Through their struggles, they constantly push forward and never give up. For this reason, I want to provide the utmost creativity and flexibility in the classroom that will develop them and help them grow.
My Project
Having flexible seating options in the classroom for my students during small group time will help keep them on task. My students get so excited when it is their turn to work with me because they love how personalized it feels! Due to their excitement, they constantly move around in their chairs and distract themselves and those around them.
Having these chairs will allow them to have the flexibility of wobbling without distracting their classmates, all while staying on task.
Not only will these chairs provide a new option during small group, but they will also serve those students who have the additional trouble staying still during whole group instruction or independent work time. A normal classroom chair can easily be swapped out for one of the wobble chairs in order to help them focus.
The two magnetic pages (lined page and early writing page) will help increase the writing development of all of my students. Many students at this young age confuse the way the holes on lined paper should be facing, how to write from left to right and even how to start writing from the very top line. These will be used for whole group instruction and will serve for modeling to my students the proper way of writing on a piece of paper. During centers, students will also have the ability to use these to practice what they have learned!
