Our close-knit, Title I school is located in a beautiful country setting. The students are energetic, curious, and work hard. The parents are positive and the community is a great resource of support.
The students come to school each day to learn so that they can be positive and helping participants in society.
The students work together to support one another both in the school and outside of the school day. Whenever a need arises in the community, our students are always there to lend a helping hand. Therefore, when we can help to pay it forward to the students, we jump at the opportunity.
My Project
All of our students are feeling the mental drain from the past year. Not only are we trying to teach our students, but we are trying to be aware of their personal needs and well-being. How do we fit all of this in? Through the help of Teacher's Pay Teacher's lessons and activities, the students will be able to check-in each day with a feelings journal. During free write time, each student will have a feelings journal where they can just write. It will be private and only shared between student and teacher or another adult. On Teacher's Pay Teacher's they also have mental health meters and check-in sheets. Students can color the face of how they are feeling when they walk into school or set their meter on where they are at. This will be a quick check-in for the teacher to how everyone is coming into school and to see if a student needs a little bit more attention at that moment. There are so many great resources to pull from on Teacher's Pay Teachers that will help with checking in, staying in tune, and helping students with mental health awareness.
