My Project
Over the past decade, I’ve helped students at different schools set up Rock Band Clubs, get together with friends, and play music at school. It’s a big job to be caretaker for several instruments, but I’m happy to help as I’m able. I try to do as much maintenance as I can, and the students contribute their efforts as well, but we do need some help, and this project requests funding for maintenance on three guitars.
These guitar setups include restring, deep clean + polish, fret polish, fret crowning and light dressing, intonation, truss rod adjustment, tremolo balancing, bridge height, saddle radius, nut slots adjusted, stopbar tailpiece height set, pickup balancing, electronics checked, tuners lubed, hardware cleaned + tightened, humidification.
Some players know enough to do all the maintenance on their instruments, but most of us need to have some professional assistance occasionally. I’ve probably spent more than $300 of my own money maintaining and repairing one heavily used guitar which originally retailed for about $150. That doesn’t mean we should have thrown it away and bought another. All instruments need regular maintenance.
