My Students
Students in my class all live within walking distance of school but despite their geographical similarities, they represent a myriad of backgrounds in terms of race, ethnicity, language, and socioeconomics. At school, we focus on collaboration and find ways to work together to build a strong classroom and a stronger school community by capitalizing on the strengths that come from our diversity. We work hard every day to make our great school even better and more inclusive of our diversity.
My Project
Students today know how important it is to be stewards for the environment and to make positive changes. The young people I work with have really taken on this charge and are passionate about helping the Earth.
One way that we are working to make a difference is through classroom composting of paper towels, napkins, and leftovers from snacks.
With a solid supply of compostable liners, students can easily take care of their classroom composting and help send less trash to the landfills. In the words of Chief Seattle, "We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children," and these children want to be a positive force for change.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
