Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students at our school are curious, funny, and full of energy. They’re smart, creative, and eager to learn. Our classrooms reflect a rich mix of cultures, languages, and learning styles. Many of my students love to dance, move, and perform. I know they would love to have more opportunities to do so.

A Bose SoundLink portable speaker would give my students the tools to stay engaged through music and movement.

The speaker provides clear, reliable sound for PE games, dance activities, and classroom routines. Right now, we don’t have a sound system that works outdoors or allows students to hear music clearly during active or outdoor lessons.

Music helps keep students focused and motivated, especially during physical education, brain breaks, and outdoor games. It also supports language development and social-emotional growth, especially for students still developing and acquiring the English language. Music and rhythm support English language development by helping students hear and practice sounds, patterns, and vocabulary in an engaging way. Playing songs and chants through the speaker reinforces listening skills, especially for students still acquiring English.

My project also supports racial equity by ensuring all my second graders, regardless of background or language, have equal access to engaging, culturally relevant opportunities to move, express themselves, and build confidence. It is my hope that when they are in my classroom they feel seen, included, and celebrated.
