Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students here at our school are super motivated to succeed and need a little help from donors to get there! I see every 5th and 6th grader and some 7th graders for general music, and I also have band, orchestra, and chorus for grade 5-8.

The students here at my school are accepted based on their academic merit, but still have the challenges that face inner city students.

Many students do not have the best home life so my goal is to improve what I can through music. Right now we have 100 students signed up for instrumental music! Our school has a total of around 400 students, so we have 25% of students participating in instrumental music, in addition to almost 10% more in choral music. The students here love music, evident by the 1/3 of the student body who chose to add to what they get in class.

I think the students here deserve the best, and I work hard to give them what I can, but could always use some help!

The projects I do on here are bigger ones that I wouldn't be able to fund on my own, so any help is greatly appreciated.

My Project

By providing my students with these supplies I will be better able to make sure they are playing on quality instruments and continuing to grow in their musical training, without the worry of faulty equipment holding them back.

We have lots of violin players, and lots of clarinet and saxophone players, and the students can't afford to buy supplies for the instruments as well, so I am working to provide them with what they will need to make sure they can experience the music the best way we can.

By providing these supplies to the school I can be sure that student's instruments don't inhibit their progress, and that I can provide the same quality education that students in a wealthier zip code might be getting. I want to be sure that I am doing my best for the students and I need a little help to get there!
