My students come from low to very low income neighborhoods around San Francisco, but I truly love teaching them, because their hearts are tremendous, and Leadership is a college-bound and socially conscious charter school, so they know how to work hard for their futures.
This project would enable my students to see my handout projections and videos in full size and color.
Our classrooms are equipped with projectors, but our building is too old to ceiling-mount them, so the projection size is very small. I have been using my own 46" TV for visual projection, but after 8 years it finally stopped working. This project would make every lesson, tutorial, and video more effective and engaging for the students.
My Project
Eight years ago I started using an older version of a personal large-screen TV, and it makes video projection so much better than a standard screen projector. This year my television died, so I am looking for ways to replace it.
I can't emphasize enough how much better a visual a television provides than a standard video projector in the classroom.
I use video projection every single day, and only occasionally for videos. Most of the visuals are PDFs of their readings or handouts used in lessons. I have found through years of experience that a large-screen television is far superior to a projector, especially since our school building is not equipped for ceiling mounting, necessitating the projector to be a few feet away from the whiteboard, providing a far weaker visual than a large television.
