This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations, but they also haven't heard of The Alchemist, a must read for all human beings.

I have wonderful low income middle school students who have a sincere desire to learn.

Student academic success is tied to reading and writing ability, so it is essential to get them hooked on reading novels, as it is proven that avid readers are better writers. They've seen the written word. They desire to connect with books that they can relate to and apply to their own lives, and The Alchemist is one of them.

My Project

If you've ever read "The Alchemist," it really makes you question your own dreams and reality. With a full class set of this novel, it could have the power to motivate children to make a move toward bettering their futures and following their inner calling, regardless of the hardships that they most likely will face.

With the budgets as waning as they are these days, the last things purchased are novel sets.

The titles we have available to us are torn up and outdated. We need current literature that will inspire the children to live a more authentic life.
