This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 100% of my students come from low-income households. It is difficult for parents to provide the necessary supplies like: notebooks, color pencils, crayons and whiteboards that may last all school year. I plan to provide notebooks, colors are used for writing and whiteboards are used to phonics and math skills.
Students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies.
The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work.
By having notebooks and color pencils students will practice their writing skills avoiding single papers they write on. Also this avoids distractions and they will make a better use of their writing time.
These basic materials will give them the basic tools to finish this school year successfully strong in their learning.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
