This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.

I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.

My scholars are eager to learn, excel, and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I can reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for eighteen years and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.

My Project

These earbuds will be used to hear the students and eliminate background noise. In distance learning, teachers are all present in the building and kids are at home. Since I am a librarian, I do not have my own space. Teachers come in to teach or use the space that does not have their rooms. The earbuds will enable more effective and efficient teaching. The use of them will ensure I do not transmit background noise during my lessons and I also only hear the students and not talking around me. Scholars will more seamlessly integrate what they hear and experience so that the learning experience is as if they are in person. The earbuds will foster a more personalized experience for them.

With the use of this earpiece, scholars will learn about savings, money management, and the stock market.

Lessons will be conducted so that kids learn the importance of financial literacy, living within their means, balancing a checkbook, and what dividends and yields are. By empowering scholars with financial knowledge, you are equipping life long survival skills for understanding how everyday finances work and how money can be your friend, not the enemy.
