Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a librarian at an elementary school that has a very high poverty rate. I have been a classroom teacher for 11 years, but this is my second year promoting literacy all day long! The children at my school are very diverse, coming from every great corner of our earth. I have all grades of children, from Kindergarten to grade 8, coming to check out books from the library.
A Series of Unfortunate Events books are very popular in our library. They have been read to death!!! We are now missing some of the books in the set and my students are BEGGING me for more!!! Unfortunately, we have no funding to purchase more.
I would like to complete the set of books that we have so that my readers can read the whole set through. I try to provide my students with the books they want to read, since it is very hard to compete with TV these days. When you have a student hooked on a book and/or series of books, you do all you can do to keep them hooked!
Please, please, please fund this project and complete our library's set of A Series of Unfortunate Events books. I and my students will thanks you SO MUCH!!!!
